DocuAgree vs. Dubsado: Which Should You Use?
Dubsado is a client-management CRM built around forms, invoicing, and workflow automation, with contracts as one piece of a much larger system; DocuAgree is a $4.99/month tool that does contracts and e-signature and nothing else. If your business runs on Dubsado's payment and automation tooling, DocuAgree doesn't replace any of that — it's a much smaller, much cheaper tool for a much smaller job.
Where Dubsado genuinely wins
- Payment collection and invoicing — the big one. Dubsado Payments (powered by Stripe) takes client payments directly, at 2.9% + 30¢ for US cards (4.4% + 30¢ for international cards) and ACH at 0.8%, capped at $5 per transaction. Dubsado says it adds no fee of its own on top. DocuAgree does not collect payment at all — anyone switching expecting to invoice through it will be misled.
- Client questionnaires and forms. Form and email templates are a shared, core feature on both tiers — Dubsado's forms are more configurable than a simple questionnaire, built to route into workflows.
- Scheduling. Included, but only on the Premier tier — Starter doesn't get it.
- Lead capture and client management. A real pipeline, though Starter caps active lead-capture forms at one; Premier is unlimited.
- Automated workflows — Dubsado's signature feature. Premier-tier automation (plus Zapier and bookkeeping integrations) can trigger emails, tasks, and status changes off a client's project stage — genuinely deep automation DocuAgree has no equivalent for at any price.

Where DocuAgree is better — for the right photographer
If contracts and signatures are genuinely all you need, DocuAgree's case is straightforward: $4.99/month flat, no annual commitment, and a pause option for the off-season instead of paying through it. Dubsado's Starter tier alone costs roughly 6–7x that before automation or scheduling are even in the picture, and its per-user add-on pricing adds more if anyone else on your team needs access.
Who should stay on Dubsado
Anyone relying on Dubsado's payment collection, scheduling, or Premier-tier automation should stay put — switching to DocuAgree for contracts alone means losing all three, not trading up. Dubsado's workflow automation in particular is a genuinely deep feature that took real setup time to build out; there's no DocuAgree equivalent to switch into.
If you're just here for the contract
An event and portrait session agreement is a shorter photography contract for non-wedding work — engagement sessions, family portraits, corporate headshots, and parties — covering the session details, fee, and image rights without a full wedding contract's length. See the full template details → — or see DocuAgree for wedding & event photographers for the full pitch to this specific audience.
